Daikin Altherma Air Source Heat Pump Range

Daikin’s air source heat pumps are more environmentally friendly in comparison to traditional heating methods because they use less energy to deliver heating, cooling and hot water. Altherma is the name of the brand’s range of air-to-water heat pumps, which are designed to withstand the most severe winter conditions and operate when the outdoor temperature is as low as -25°C.

A Daikin Altherma air-to-water heat pump will work with your existing pipework and radiators, meaning less installation as you won’t have to replace your entire system. You can also link your Altherma heat pump to a solar system to save more money and do more to protect the environment. And if you want the best of both worlds, you can combine a gas boiler with the Daikin Altherma Hybrid heat pump.

Browse the range below to find out more about Daikin’s Altherma air-to-water heat pumps.

Daikin Altherma Monobloc Air-to-Water Heat Pump

Ideal for homes with limited installation space and new builds with underfloor heating, the Daikin Altherma Monobloc is a quiet heat pump that combines all the hydraulic components in one outdoor unit. Although compact, this low temperature unit is a powerful system that can deliver water temperatures of up to 55°C and is available in 9kW, 11kW, 14kW and 16kW models. Users can control the heating system from home, via a smartphone and with voice commands, as well as monitor energy consumption and schedule for daily use or holiday mode.

Daikin Altherma Low Temperature Split Air-to-Water Heat Pump

The Daikin Altherma Low Temperature Split is perfect for low energy homes and new build properties with underfloor heating or low temperature radiators. Models span from 4KW to 16kW, which are available in two types, including a floor standing integrated heating and hot water unit and a wall-mounted indoor unit with an optional hot water tank. Both are designed to blend in with other modern household appliances, the floor-standing unit allows for quick and efficient installation and the wall-mounted unit provides flexibility on installation.

Daikin Altherma High Temperature Split Air-to-Water Heat Pump

As the Daikin Altherma High Temperature Split integrates seamlessly with existing pipework and radiators, it’s the perfect option when replacing an old boiler or renovating your home. Providing a maximum flow temperature of 70°C, this unit comes in three sizes of 11kW, 14kW and 16kW and is available with both the integrated water tank and wall-mounted indoor options. It’s also very quiet and achieves some of the lowest sound levels and highest efficiencies in the market, plus it looks great in just about any setting.

Daikin Altherma 3 Air-to-Water Heat Pump with Bluevolution Technology

This is the first air-to-water heat pump in the UK to use R32, which is equivalent in power to standard refrigerants but achieves higher energy efficiency and lower carbon dioxide emissions. The unit is available in 4kW, 6kW and 8kW models and comes complete with Bluevolution Technology that combines the R32 refrigerant with a specially developed compressor.

Daikin Altherma Hybrid Air-to-Water Heat Pump

The Daikin Altherma Hybrid combines a gas condensing boiler of 28kW or 32kW with an outdoor hydrosplit heat pump of 4kW. It uses a gas boiler to deliver superior comfort and performance and enables you to heat your home with up to 60% renewable energy without replacing your existing radiators. Since this system is controlled by hybrid logic, it will always operate most efficiently and automatically select the most economical heating mode to ensure your home remains comfortable all year round.

Why Choose a Daikin Air Source Heat Pump?

Reduce Environmental Impact

Daikin air source heat pumps extract heat from the air, making them an environmentally friendly solution when it comes to heating and cooling your home. Changing to an air source heat pump will not only reduce the environmental impact of your energy use but also save energy consumption and cut your energy bills.

Lower Running Costs

A Daikin air source heat pump uses electricity instead of gas to produce hot water and heat your home. When you switch to an air source heat pump, you can save a considerable amount of money, even if you currently have an A-rated boiler installed in your home.

Earn Extra Income through the RHI Scheme

Daikin’s range of air source heat pumps are MCS certified products, but you need to get an MCS accredited installer to certify the installation to be eligible for the government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme. The scheme was put in place as an incentive for greener homes, and the amount you earn will depend on how much renewable energy your system produces. And although the RHI scheme is going to end in March 2022, The Clean Heat Grant is set to replace it a month later.

Low Maintenance and Long Lifespan

Air source heat pumps are low maintenance systems that require servicing and maintenance by a qualified technician only once a year. They also have a long lifespan and can work efficiently for up to 25 years, provided they’re well maintained and serviced annually. That means a Daikin air source heat pump can last twice as long as a boiler which, on average, has a life expectancy between 10 and 15 years.

Compatible with Solar Thermal Technology

When you purchase a Daikin air source heat pump, you can cut your bills down further by partnering your system with solar panels and using free renewable energy from the sun. Daikin’s solar collectors produce up to 70% of the energy your heat pump needs, plus they’re easy to install and highly insulated for improved efficiency.

Daikin Air Source Heat Pump Reviews

If you go on Daikin’s website, you can find hundreds of positive reviews from customers, most of which have rated the brand and its air source heat pumps the maximum 5 stars.

Daikin has an ‘Average’ rating on Trustpilot based on 53 reviews, however, not all of the reviews relate to the brand’s air source heat pumps.

Please note that the above Trustpilot score is correct at the time of writing in November 2021.
