They operate a UK-based call centre that is opened 364 days of the year which you can call to organise your boiler repairs and more. If your boiler stops working and you have no access to heat or hot water then the company state that they will provide you with a same-day call out. All other repairs and services are booked as appointments in order of priority.

Arranging boiler cover with Vaillant is easy and flexible, you can choose to pay for a cover policy that you can use to look after your system or opt to pay for repairs and services as you need them. 

Ad-Hoc Repairs

If you need to get your boiler repaired then Vaillant offer a fixed price service that covers everything needed for the repair, including labour costs. You simply contact the call centre and they will arrange an engineer to come out to you and diagnose the problem and then repair it for a specified price. 

The only exceptions to this are when the expansion vessel or heat exchanger need to be replaced as the price of these are not included in fixed price service. If the engineer is unable to complete the repair on your boiler then you will need to pay just £99 to cover the call out fee.

Repair & Care Plans

Vaillant offer ongoing repair and care plans through Domestic and General that covers the cost of repairs and an annual service. There are two levels of service on offer  – a Gold and Platinum plan.

The Gold plan provides you with a yearly service that is arranged to suit your availability. It also includes the cost of repairs for the boiler and controls, with some exceptions. If your boiler is considered to be irreparable then you will be able to have a new boiler installed up to the value of £750, although you will need to pay for installation and delivery of the new unit.

The Platinum plan offers everything in the Gold plan, plus it covers your heating so that you don’t have to worry about being left without heating over the colder months.

Pricing

When it comes to deciding on the best solution, understanding pricing will help you make the right choice. 

The fixed price repair service will set you back £285 if the problem can be fixed or £99 if the engineer is unable to resolve the problem.

The Gold plan costs around £18-£19 per month or you can pay £222 for the year. This price may change depending on the age of your boiler, but the Vaillant team will provide you with a no-obligation quote if you contact them.

The Platinum plan costs around £21-£22 a month or you can pay £246 for the year. As with the Gold plan, the price may change depending on the age of your boiler so it is important to talk to the Vaillant team before you proceed.

Exclusions

All policies come with a list of exclusions and it is important that you check what these are before you take out any form of cover. The full list of exclusions will be located in Vaillant’s terms and conditions, but the main ones include:

  • Damage that occurs as a result of limescale, sludge, calcifications or other hard water deposits.
  • Intentional or malicious damage
  • Installation of non-Vaillant parts

What An Annual Service Covers

The Vaillant boiler service is an annual visit from a registered engineer. It takes around half an hour to complete and you will be given a clear overview of the engineers findings once they have finished checking it. If you need repairs and are covered, the engineer will strive to do it on the same day as your service. If you need to arrange a fixed price repair, you will need to contact the call centre to arrange this. 

The annual service includes:

  • Visual inspection of the external casing and pipes
  • Checking the boiler flame colour 
  • Inspecting the seals and safety devices
  • Checking the flue and other components such as the heat exchanger and the burner
  • Ensuring all parts are as clean as possible
