What We Think of the Valliant ecoTEC Plus Open Vent

The term Open Vent refers to the fact that these two boilers in this range are heat only. They are traditional boilers which require the added components within the heating system of a cold water cistern and expansion tank. In this they differ from a Combi boiler, which heats the hot water on demand.

An open vent system sends hot water to a storage tank, and from there to the taps, and to the radiators. The four power ratings in the range – 15kW, 18kW, 28kW and 39kW – make them ideal for a wide range of properties, from a small flat to a medium sized house. They can run on either natural gas, or LPG.

As for its weight – it tips the scales at 31kg – it is similar to many others of this size and needs to be wall-mounted. The control panel offers a number of functions for the user and you can also ask for an optional timer to be built in.

Getting a Competitive Boiler Quote

Before you buy a new boiler, we advise you look around for the best deals first; get a quote from a national boiler installer and compare it with one from a local boiler installer.

Once you have chosen your boiler it is vital that it is fitted by only a Gas Safe Registered engineer. This will ensure the work is carried safely and properly.

I’m trying to dcdeie whether to start heating my hot water with oil. I have an oil fired furnace but a propane water heater. I just went through 60 lbs of propane in two weeks which equates to about $30 per week for laundy; showers and dishes. My old place the furnace heated the hot water in the furnace and during the summer I would fill the furnace in say april and not need fuel until oct. Seems lots cheaper than what the propane is costing me. Please comment.
