Designed with a focus on energy efficiency, Vaillant boilers feature low-emission combustion technology to achieve a 94% ErP rating and come with advanced controls that allow more flexibility for heating your home. With a price range between £720 and £2,800, Vaillant is competitively priced and represents good value for money.
It’s no more than you would expect. The mere mention of German engineering should make your ears prick up. And that’s precisely what Vaillant energy-efficient boilers bring you. The company has a reputation for producing reliable and durable boilers with a long operational life.
This is backed up by gas-safe engineers and Vaillant customers alike, many of whom say their Vaillant boilers survived double-digit years. Vaillant estimates its boilers are expected to last 15 years. Some customers have reported they got 17 years out of theirs. And even when they do malfunction, engineers say Vaillant are pretty easy to service — which means they are less expensive to repair!
That all sounds like a win-win, but are Vaillant energy-efficient boilers the Tyson Fury of the UK boiler landscape?
The customer review site TrustPilot suggests most customers are happy with their Vaillant boilers, although 6% of reviewers complain about the low standard of Vaillant’s customer service. Could be a red flag!
Let’s get in the ring and find out!

Vaillant: A Trusted Name in Boilers
Vaillant has a rich history dating back to 1874 making it the oldest heating and ventilation company in Europe. In its long history, the brand has consistently strived for innovation in heating technology. In the early 20th century, it was the first manufacturer to introduce the “closed system” gas-fired bath boiler, a significant advancement in safety and efficiency.
In recent decades, Vaillant has placed a strong emphasis on sustainability and renewable energy. The company has developed products that integrate solar thermal technology and other environmentally friendly solutions.
Vaillant expanded its operations globally, becoming one of the leading heating technology manufacturers worldwide. The company operates in numerous countries, providing solutions for residential and commercial applications.
In 2001, the German giant made a strategic acquisition with the purchase of the British heating and hot water appliance manufacturer Glow-worm which strengthened its position in the market.
Vaillant has received numerous awards for its innovative and energy-efficient heating products including the prestigious German Sustainability Award in 2023
Considerations when buying a Vaillant Boiler
When buying a boiler for your home, there are several considerations to keep in mind to ensure that you select the right model for your heating and hot water needs. The information below details what you can expect from Vaillant boilers.
Energy-Efficiency
The energy efficiency of modern boilers is measured by the Energy-related Products (ErP) rating. A higher ErP rating indicates better energy efficiency. Vaillant boilers are A-rated meaning they have an ErP of at least 90% which is standard fayre.
Dimensions
Most boilers on the UK market are compact and can easily fit into any home. Vaillant boilers come in various sizes, and the available space in your home may influence your choice. If space is limited, a compact boiler may be more suitable. Larger homes are best suited to system boilers or heat-only boilers because they perform better, but you need sufficient room to host a hot water tank/cylinder. A large airing cupboard or loft is the most suitable location.
Performance Output in kW
Vaillant offers a wide range of boilers that are suitable for heating all types of homes across the UK. However, knowing which size is best for your home is determined by a number of factors including the number of users, frequency of hot water use, number of bathrooms, size of rooms, ventilation and location. We recommend consulting a qualified energy-efficient professional for advice.
Take advantage of our ‘get a quote’ service to get in touch with local suppliers in your area who will be happy to help you choose the right boiler.
The size of the boiler should be appropriate for the heating demands of your home. Consider factors such as the number of bathrooms, radiators, and overall space that needs to be heated. The output rating of the boiler is measured in kilowatts (kW), and it should match the heating requirements of your property.
Ease and Cost of Installation
The accessibility of the installation site and complexities in fitting a particular boiler site can impact labour costs. According to gas-safe engineers, Vaillant is one of the easiest to fit and components are readily available in the UK.
This all means that installation costs, servicing and maintenance tasks are less likely to be stacked up by labour charges. The cost of professional gas-safe installers should be factored into the cost of your new boilers — and bear in mind installation costs are never included in the price shown for the boiler.
Although Boiler Prices is not able to provide specific rates for every boiler installation provider, we can say the average installation cost for a new energy-efficient boiler in the UK is between £1,100 – £1,800. It could easily be the case that Vaillant gas boiler prices could save you hundreds of pounds over boilers that are more difficult to install.
To find out exactly how much you should expect to pay to install a new Vaillant boiler in your home, take advantage of the Boiler Prices ‘get a quote’ feature. Our convenient features give you access to a wide range of suppliers and installers in your area that compete for prices. We give you the three best options and you can choose whichever quote you prefer — and there’s no obligation to buy.
Therefore, there’s nothing to lose by generating a selection of the best quotes.

Warranty
Vaillant reportedly offers competitive warranty periods to give you peace of mind. Longer warranties also demonstrate how much confidence a manufacturer has in their product. However, on closer inspection, the typical warranty between is 2 and 7 years which is standard, not competitive.
However, their latest ecoFit models come with a 10-year guarantee which pushes them ahead of the competition. To qualify for the full 10-year guarantee, all you have to do is register your boiler. You also receive £50 cashback.
Vaillant warranties typically cover both parts and labour during the warranty period. This means that if any components fail or if there are issues with the boiler’s performance, Vaillant will provide replacement parts and cover the cost of labour for authorised repairs.
Vaillant Combi Boilers: Compact, Efficient, and Cost-Saving
Perfect for homes with limited space and/or smaller water requirements, Vaillant combination boilers heat water only when hot water is needed. Vaillant combi boilers are the most energy-efficient boilers in the Vaillant range because they connect directly to the mains supply and don’t require a cold water tank or hot water cylinder.
The only disadvantage is that water pressure may not be as high as it would be with other types of boilers. If more than one tap is being used at the same time, combi boilers don’t maintain the pressure so you will lose heat, i.e. the shower goes cold when someone fills the kettle.
Prices for Vaillant combi boilers range from £850 to £1,920 with varying dimensions, flow rates and outputs. Get a Quote through Boiler Prices to find the right boiler at the right price.
Below, you can compare each combi boiler series currently available from Vaillant and find out which options are best suited to your home and needs. It should be noted that the prices listed below only represent the cost of the boiler and do not include the cost of installation.

Vaillant ecoTEC Exclusive with Green iQ Combi | 35 – 43kW | Medium to large homes with one or two bathrooms | £1,400 – £1,920 |
Vaillant System Boilers: Easy installation, efficient heating, and customisable options
System boilers provide hot water via a sealed system tank which is usually housed in an airing cupboard. They do not require a cold water tank in the loft (unlike a regular heat-only boiler) which makes them more advantageous for medium-sized and larger homeowners that have the space to store a water cylinder that can hold from 50 up to 500 litres.
They also have the edge on combi boilers in that they deliver a consistent flow of hot water regardless of how many taps you have running at the same time. Vaillant system boilers can also be used in conjunction with other renewable energy heating systems such as solar thermal.
Entry prices for Vaillant system boilers range start from around £780 with the premium range ringing in at around £2,800 depending on heat outputs.
Designed for homes with higher than average heating and hot water requirements, the Vaillant system boiler range is ideal for medium and larger homes or smaller homes that have storage space for cylinders up to 200 litres. It should be noted that the prices listed below only represent the cost of the boiler and do not include the cost of installation.
System Gas Boiler Series | Sizes | Sizes Of Home | Price |
---|---|---|---|
Vaillant ecoTEC Plus System | 12 – 37kW | Small, medium and large-sized homes with multiple bathrooms | £780 – £1,370 |
Vaillant ecoFIT Pure System | 12 – 30kW | Small, medium and large-sized homes with multiple bathrooms | £840 – £1,160 |
Vaillant ecoTEC Exclusive with Green iQ System | 27kW | Medium to large-sized homes with multiple bathrooms | £1,300 |
Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48kW & 64kW System | 48 – 64kW | Large homes with multiple bathrooms | £2,200 – £2,600 |
Vaillant ecoTEC 46kW & 65kW System | 46 -65kW | Commercial buildings and large homes with multiple bathrooms | £2,200 – £2,800 |
Vaillant Heat Only Boilers: Versatility, Efficiency, and Reliability
Vaillant regular heat-only boilers (often referred to as open vent or conventional boilers) provide central heating and hot water via a boiler, a storage cylinder (which is usually housed in the airing cupboard), and a cold water tank (which is typically housed in the loft).
The expansion, or “feeder” tank in the loft draws water from the mains supply and then feeds the hot water cylinder. The water is then heated by the boiler and can be distributed throughout the property. It might take time to reheat once the water runs out due to it being cylinder-driven but you can use taps, showers and baths in different rooms at the same time which is a necessity for larger families.
Vaillant estimates, on average, that each person per household will use around 50 litres. They have cylinders that can hold up to 500 litres, but you should consult with a gas-safe engineer to make sure the hot water doesn’t run out.
The price for Vaillant regular heat-only boilers ranges from £796 to £1430 depending on the kW output. Ask a local supplier which kW output you need to comfortably heat your home and meet your water demands.
The Vaillant regular boiler range has been developed with small, medium and large homes in mind. It should be noted that the prices listed below only represent the cost of the boiler and do not include the cost of installation.
Note: the prices listed below are the purchase prices for the boiler only. They do not include installation costs.
Regular Gas Boiler Series | Sizes | Size Of Home | Price |
---|---|---|---|
Vaillant ecoFIT Pure Regular | 12 – 35kW | Small, medium and large-sized homes with more than one bathroom | £730 – £1,440 |
Vaillant ecoTEC Plus Regular | 12 – 35kW | Small, medium and large-sized homes with more than one bathroom | £720 – £1,520 |

Vaillant has shared some customer reviews on its website, but nearly 20,000 more can be found on the world’s most powerful review platform, Trustpilot. The brand has an overall score of 4.5 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot, with 78% of customers leaving a 5-star review and rating Vaillant boilers as excellent.
Vaillant Boiler Surveys and Reviews
Vaillant scores fairly well on the customer review site TrustPilot and has received plenty of reviews that should encourage homeowners to look for a new energy-efficient boiler. The words ‘trusted’ and ‘reliable’ stand out.
The German boiler brand consistently receives a full 5-star rating, according to 78% of its customers, although this has dropped by one per cent since we last examined the data.
Having said that, from almost 20,000 reviews left 6% of customers complained about poor customer service. Although this is a common complaint in the heating sector, some brands actively try harder attentive. Worcester-Bosch, Baxi and ironically Glow-worm who is part of the Vaillant group receive higher marks for customer service.
Which? Engineers Review
Vaillant scores top marks in almost every category in the Which? survey including build quality, customer satisfaction and engineer recommendations. Ringing in an 81% rating across all categories, Vaillant is only tipped off the top perch by Worcester Bosch which tops the charts with 82%.
The latest ratings have seen Vaillant move up the table to second from fourth after receiving an overall score of 76% in 2018. Vaillant is the only brand to receive a full 5 from 5-star rating from gas-safe engineers which is based on build quality together with the ease and availability of repair and sourcing spare parts for repairs. Because Vaillant boilers are easy to fix, you might also be able to lower the costs of repairs and instalments.
Vaillant Overall Score
Based on responses from a September survey 2023 Which?
How do Vaillant boilers compare with other boiler brands?
Vaillant is recognised as one the leaders in the UK energy-efficient boiler market and, in the eyes of some, is unrivalled. The closest company that even comes close is Worcester-Bosch — although there are conflicting reports. Some review sites put the latter above, but suffice it to say, Vaillant and Worcester-Bosch are more or less like-for-like. Vaillant’s edge is arguably its slightly lower prices but still produces high-quality, long-lasting products.
But according to Which? reviewers, Vaillant only earned 4-stars for reliability which is no match the 5-star reliability rating of Worcester-Bosch. The durability is reflected in the prices and the quality of parts that are used to build the products.
Even still, you should expect to get a good 10-15 years from a Vaillant boiler. Worcester Bosch, on the other hand, is known to last as long as 25 years…so the extra investment gives you better value for money over the long term.
Other boilers you may want to consider that fall into the same price point and reliability pocket as Vaillant are Ideal, Glow-worm, Baxi and Viessmann Vitodens 100-W.
Boiler Prices Verdict on the Vaillant Boilers: 4/5
Regarded as a heavyweight champion of the boiler world, Vaillant boilers are the darlings of gas-safe engineers and customers alike — mainly because they are reliable and long-lasting without having to burst the bank.
Vaillant’s high scores in the Which? the survey is more or less echoed by the popular customer review site TrustPilot. The German boiler brand consistently receives 4 and 5-star ratings, although the 6% of reviewers that complained about the low standard of Vaillant’s customer service is a red flag. We knocked 0.5 off the overall rating to reflect this.
It would appear that a good percentage of UK homeowners, however, put their faith in Vaillant. According to the brand, 1 in every 3 boilers sold in the UK is manufactured by the Vaillant Group. Although the boilers boast German design and engineering, they are manufactured in award-winning facilities across the UK.
After consistently being awarded a Best Buy status by Which? across their entire line of domestic boilers, Vaillant is regarded as the top-rated gas boiler brand in the UK. However, we feel the ErP of 90% could be better. The UK government has set an industry target of 92% as a minimum.
Ordinarily, we would dock brands that fall short of the recommended target by another 0.5 points, but gas-safe engineers confirm that Vaillant outperforms many of its competitors. They overwhelmingly rate Vaillant above other boilers — but mostly because they are easier to repair. We docked it anyway.
Vaillant are top-performing boilers, we don’t dispute that. But we do feel as though engineers show some bias towards Vaillant over Worcester Bosch because they are easier to work with. From a customer point of view, that will mean a Vaillant boiler won’t take as long to service or repair – which means less labour costs.
So, why buy a Vaillant boiler?
Vaillant boilers are highly recommended throughout Europe for their efficiency and environmentally friendly designs. You wouldn’t really expect anything less from the second-largest boiler manufacturer in Europe.
With 150 years of experience in producing high-quality products, Vaillant is noted for consistently producing energy-efficient boilers that are kinder to the environment without compromising on heating and hot water performance.
The Vaillant ecoTEC Pure range in particular has earned glowing praise for its build quality and reliability. Manufactured with the highest quality components and backed with guarantee* packages of between 2 and 7 years or 10 years if you register the boiler.
* Note, a guarantee is superior to a warranty in that it promises to repair or replace your boiler no matter what. Warranties typically have terms and conditions attached to them.
All-in-all Vaillant represents excellent value for money. The company’s energy-efficient boilers are competitively priced and are proven to last around 15 years or more.
