Ferroli Boilers: A Complete Guide to their Prices, Reviews, Warranties And a Lot More
Ferroli is a budget boiler brand with prices ranging from £475 to £880. Yet the Italian behemoth has achieved an impressive 94% Erp and offers seven and 10-year warranties as standard.
Although the company only has a handful of domestic boilers, they do come in a range of performance outputs which are suitable for small to medium sized homes in the UK. They also offer a combi boiler for larger homes with five or more bedrooms. The performance output starts at 60kW.
Whilst Ferroli offers excellent value for money, the quality and reliability of its boilers are shrouded in mystery. In the recent past, the Italian manufacturer certainly had a poor reputation and were rated as the worst boilers in Britain in 2021.
At the time of writing this article (March 24), Ferroli has seemingly improved its product line. The generous 10-year warranty is a good indication that the build quality and reliability has been improved. In Which? this year, 68% of customers said they would recommend a Ferroli boiler to friends and family whilst only 5% said they wouldn’t.
Time will tell whether Ferroli deliver quality low-cost boilers but for the time bing it seems they do. Has the Italian giant turned a corner? Let’s dive in and take a deeper look.

Ferroli: A Trusted Name in Boilers
Ferroli is an Italian manufacturer of heating appliances and solutions with a rich history dating back to the mid-20th century. Founded in 1955, it began life as a small workshop producing heating products and systems and has since grown into a multicontinental behemoth.
Ferroli began operating in the UK during the late 1980s and in Burton-on-Trent in Staffordshire. The company operates in 14 countries across Europe and Asia and is now considered the leader of the Italian boiler sector. From high-efficiency domestic combi, system and open vent boilers to technologically advanced commercial boilers, Ferroli has introduced many innovative heating appliances into the marketplace.
In the early 2000s, the Italians intensified its efforts in sustainability and energy efficiency. The company developed eco-friendly heating systems, including condensing boilers and renewable energy solutions such as solar thermal systems and heat pumps.
Subsequently, Ferroli has been honoured with various European Business Awards, which recognise companies for innovation, eco-friendly technologies, efficiency, and reliability. The company’s flagship BlueHelix Tech combi boiler scooped awards in 2016 and 2017 for Best Boiler and Best Purchase.
Ferroli’s boiler range includes two award-winning BlueHelix condensing boilers, a 60kW combi boiler for larger homes and an electric system boiler for customers that are not on the gas grid.
Considerations when buying a Ferroli Boiler
With companies in 14 countries you would expect Ferroli to have a long-standing reputation for manufacturing reliable and efficient boilers. However, before you decide which type of boiler to install consider the following key pointers.
Energy-Efficiency
Energy-efficient boilers utilise condensing technology which extracts more heat from the combustion process and recovers heat that would otherwise be lost. Ferroli’s innovative technology saves 94% of the energy it generates which is one of the best on the UK market and effectively helps homeowners to keep energy bills to a minimum.
Dimensions
Designed with compact dimensions of 700x420x250, Ferroli boilers are ideal for homes with a shortage of space. Combi boilers are the most popualr type in the UK for this reason. System boilers have the same dimensions but also require a storage cylinder, typically installed in an attic or airing cupboard.
Performance Output in kW
Ferroli may only have a handful of boilers to choose from but they are available in 24kW, 28kW and 34kW which is adequate for small to medium-sized homes. For larger homes with 5 or more bedrooms, the 60kW Force W Single is the best option. The company’s system boiler is only 9kW which is the lowest performance output for this type of boiler. If you have more than 10 radiators, you should install a combi boiler or use another boiler company that offers system boilers with a higher kW output.
Ease and Cost of Installation
The price for a Ferroli boiler does not include the installation cost which can ramp up the overal price for installing a new energy-efficient boiler. Gas-safe engineersl are not overly enamoured by Ferroli which indicates they are not the easiest to fit and the components are not readily available in the UK. Ths can increase the labour costs and you could be waiting several weeks for spare parts.
Although Boiler Prices is not able to provide specific rates for every boiler installation provider, we can say the average installation cost for a new energy-efficient boiler in the UK is between £1,100 – £1,800 and, according to some heating installation companies, a system boiler can cost between £1800 and £4000 to install. It is likely that Ferroli will be at the higher end which could eliminate the cost savings of the companies budget-friendly boilers.
We strongly recommend securing an installation price before deciding whether to purchase a Ferolli boiler. To find out exactly how much you should expect to pay to install a new Ferroli boiler in your home, take advantage of the Boiler Prices ‘get a quote’ feature.
Our convenient features gives you access to a wide range of suppliers and installers in your area that compete for prices. We give you the three best options and you can choose whichever quote you prefer — and there’s no obligation to buy. Therefore, there’s nothing to lose by generating a selection of the best quotes.

Warranty
The length of the warranty is a good indicator to how reliable a boiler is. In it’s latest line of energy-efficient boilers, Ferrolo has significantly improved its warranty. In days gone by the company only offer warranties of 2-5 years as standard, but now comes with either a 7 or 10-year warranty depending on the model. This shows the Italian manufacturer has improved the reliability of it boilers and are prepared to put its money where its mouth is.
However, note that a Ferroli boiler warranty is only valid if the boiler is installed by a certified engineer acting on behalf of the manufacturer. This is standard practice in the heating industry. Get your free quote now by clicking the link and filling out the question form.
Ferroli Combi Boilers: Compact, Efficient, and Cost-Saving
Ferroli combi boilers are designed with a compact size in a range of performance outputs, (24kW, 28kW and 34kW) making them ideal for small to medium-sized home up to 4 bedroom. The Italian brand also manufactures the 60kW Force W Single for larger homes.
Built with compact dimensions allow for flexible installation options, wall-hung installations can easily squeeze in small utility rooms or kitchen cupboards. They are also quiet operators so if you leave in a single level apartment or bungalow, a Ferroli boiler won’t prevent you from getting to sleep.
Ferroli combi boilers are designed to be highly energy efficient, helping homeowners reduce energy bills and carbon footprint. The company’s flagship BlueHelix family delivers 94% energy efficiency which is excellent for such a reasonably priced boiler.
It’s also worth mentioning that all of Ferroli’s combi boilers are condensing boilers. That means they reuse the heat from the hot vapour ventilated in a traditional boiler system. As you can probably guess, the more energy that’s reused from the vapour, the more energy-efficient the boiler.
Ferroli combi boilers often feature advanced modulation technology, which allows the boiler to adjust its output based on the demand for heating or hot water together with compensation technology which measures outdoor temperatures and adjusts the output automatically for optimum comfort and energy use.
Digital displays and easy to use controls also enable you to adjust the settings by yourself. Ferroli doesn’t have smart controls so you can’t adjust setting from a hand-held device or voice-activated hub like some premium boilers.
Note: the prices listed below are the purchase prices for the boiler only. They do not include installation costs.
COMBI GAS BOILER SERIES | SIZES | SIZE OF HOME | PRICE |
---|---|---|---|

Bluehelix Tech RRT Combi | 24 – 34kW | Small, medium and large sized homes | £615 – £765 |
Ferroli System Boilers: Easy installation, efficient heating, and customisable options
Ferroli system boilers are known for their quiet operation, compact dimensions and reasonable efficiency. Or at least they deliver better energy efficiency than electric combi boilers. But the only appliance the Italian giants offer has a woeful ErP rating of D which means it loses over 30% of the heat.
However, Ferrolli’s system boiler is an ideal choice for households that are off-grid or want to get off the gas grid. It’s powered by electricity which means you’re future-proofing your home. Gas boilers will start getting phased out in 2035.
Ferroli system boilers feature advanced modulation technology, which allows the boiler to adjust its output based on the demand for heating or hot water so you have more control over how much energy you use and can reduce your overall consumption.
If you’re not very technically minded, you’ll be pleased to know that Ferroli has user-friendly digital displays and intuitive controls. This allows homeowners to easily adjust settings, monitor performance, and access diagnostic information, providing greater control over the heating system.
Note: the prices listed below are the purchase prices for the boiler only. They do not include installation costs.
SYSTEM GAS BOILER SERIES | SIZES | SIZE OF HOME | PRICE |

The length of your Ferroli boiler warranty will depend on which model of boiler you choose to have installed. Warranty periods vary between 2 and 5 years, but Ferroli will offer you the chance to upgrade to a 7 or 10-year warranty if you purchase the Modena HE boiler. But if you opt for the Bluehelix Tech RRT boiler by Ferroli and you get it fitted with a high-performance magnetic filter, you’ll be given a 10-year warranty as standard

Ferroli Boiler Controls
If you own or are about to purchase a Ferroli boiler, you’ll be pleased to know that you can choose from a small range of Ferroli boiler controls that are designed to make it easier for you to manage your heating and hot water system. Heating controls and boiler controls are also great for helping you to save energy, increase your home comfort and lower the cost of your fuel bills. But before you purchase an optional Ferroli boiler control, you’ll need to decide which one will best suit your requirements. We’ve put together a guide to Ferroli Boiler Controls to help you pick the right solutions for your home and lifestyle.
Ferroli Boiler Cover and Breakdown Options
No Ferroli boiler is immune from faults, which means your boiler can occasionally develop issues or break down when you need it most. Getting an annual service should help to minimise the risk of problems, but it won’t necessarily stop them from happening. Most Ferroli boiler problems will require you to call in an engineer to carry out repairs but there are some smaller issues that you can try and fix yourself. If your Ferroli boiler is refusing to work or you want to learn more about the different issues that can occur, you can read our handy guide to the most Common Ferroli Boiler Problems and Repairs.
Ferroli Boiler Surveys and Reviews
Boiler surveys and customer reviews are the best sources of independent and impartial advice. Having said that, not all consumer magazines can be trusted because they are often used as a vehicle for advertising and PR.
The Ferroli case is a prime example of this. The BlueHelix Tech 25C picked up awards in Italy and Spain for the Best Boiler and Best Purchase. The Italian consumer magazine AltroConsumo awarded this honour for two consecutive years in 2016 and 2017. Consumer magazines in the UK have not been so kind.
Which? magazine rated Ferroli as rated as the worst boiler company in the 2021 annual survey – with the same “award-winning” boilers toasted on the continent? Hey-ho.
However, when you dig a little deeper, there is more to the story. And it would appear that Ferroli is being short-thrifted.
The Which? survey quizzes UK residents who have experienced a boiler breakdown in the previous six years. The score is weighted by the age of the boiler when the fault initially developed, whether there were ongoing issues, whether were repairs covered by the warranty, the level of customer service and whether parts are readily available.
Which? tells us that 79% of Ferroli customers would still the brand to others, and only 5% definitely wouldn’t. So the reliability score is middle-of-the-road and three out of five stars reflect the views of the Ferroli customers on Trustpilot.
Needless to say, Ferroli boilers are not the most reliable, but you can’t expect much more from budget-friendly appliances. The overall customer score was 68%, which is apparently “below average” for the UK market, but pretty impressive for low-cost boilers.
But what makes Ferroli’s position appear worse is that Which? only give them an overall 35% rating which is below par. However, it seems as though the biggest complaints are made by gas-safe engineers and scores given by heating professionals are given 40% of the total overall score whereas customers only weigh in on 20% of the overall score.
And heating engineers only give Ferroli a paltry one out of five stars. Ouch! The scoring in this category is determined by the availability of parts, how easy it is to maintain and repair the boiler, the build quality, the quality of technical support and whether engineers would recommend the brand to customers.
Not.
Ferroli customers support both claims to some degree. The company has a mediocre 3.9-star rating on Trustpilot from 290 reviews. 67% of respondents award full marks and praise the customer service team.
However, 21% of reviewers only leave 1 star and air their aggrievances about the low quality of the boilers and the lack of customer care. Rude staff and long waits are a theme. To their credit, Ferroli does respond promptly to negative reviews. We can’t say whether the issues are sorted promptly thereafter but they appear to be.
All in all, customer review sites don’t look good for Ferroli. In 2022, the company had a 4 out of 5-star rating from 200 reviews. 90 reviews later they have dropped to 3.9.
Which? Engineers Review
How do Ferroli boilers compare with other boiler brands?
It would be harsh to compare Ferroli with premium brands on build quality and reliability as most websites do, but for a budget boiler outfit, the Italian brand does quite well. They certainly represent excellent value for money even though you should expect the boiler to develop a fault at some point.
With regards to price, Ferroli boasts some of the least expensive boilers on the UK market and is half the price you would spend on the most reputable boilers from the likes of Worcester Bosch and Vaillant. Ferroli’s prices are over £500 less and almost match these heavyweights with their 12-year warranties. Ferroli offers 10 on its premium BlueHelix Tech.
Brands like Baxi, Glow Worm and Ideal can match Ferroli for the price but only on their low-end models – which, incidentally, only come with a 2-year warranty as standard. Ferroli’s latest line boasts a 7 or 10-year warranty which is far superior to it competitors.
Very few boiler companies have immaculate customer service, and whilst Ferroli is not the worst, their staff are hardly people pleasers. This is usually a corporate tactic when they don’t want to honour the warranty. And like all warranties, terms and conditions apply. We suspect that Ferroli may be overegging their warranty.
Boiler Prices Verdict on the Ferroli Boilers: 3/5
We’re going to stick our neck out and give Ferroli the benefit of the doubt. A slightly above-average 3 out of 5 seems a worthwhile rating.
The reliability of its boilers is questionable and it may be potluck as to whether you install one that will last for a while without any issues. Judging by customer reviews Ferroli boilers can run for eight years without any problems whilst others break down in a matter of months.
Still, when you consider the low, low cost of its boilers, Ferroli certainly offers value for money. And because they only have a small selection of models to choose from, you probably won’t be confused about which model to opt for. Just make sure you get some advice about the most appropriate performance output (kW) from a gas-safe engineer.
There are question marks about the level of customer service and the reasons for this. We’re always suspicious when customer care teams don’t care about their customers. In our experience, it’s usually because the customer is being shafted.
However, we don’t have any evidence to support our suspicions about 7 and 10-year warranties on such cost-effective boilers. It doesn’t add up, but to be fair, the company has not received many complaints in the last couple of years. The majority of complaints were registered pre-2021, the year Which? rated Ferroli as the worst boiler company that year.
Maybe they were bad in 2021, but in 2024, the company seems to have improved the quality of their boilers. They are making an effort to improve customer service as well. This is the power of customer review sites.
We also have heap praise on the Italian manufacturer for achieving a 94% ErP. This is very impressive when you consider the price. Ordinarily, only the top and most expensive boilers surpass 92%.
In conclusion, providing a verdict and a recommendation for Ferroli is difficult. It will be interesting to see if its Trustpilot rating improves over the next few years. This would be a great indicator that the company has turned a corner and is offering excellent value for money for reliable boilers with a handsome warranty.
Watch this space!
So, why buy a Ferroli boiler?
Cost is the short answer. Ferroli boilers offer a cost-effective solution for low-income families that need a replacement boiler. It’s really that simple.
As a bonus, however, you do get a seven or 10-year warranty and, if you buy a combi boiler, save 94% of the energy your boiler generates.
The D-rated system boiler, on the other hand, is not as attractive and you should probably look elsewhere. The energy saving is less than 70% which won’t help you save on your energy bills, and what you might save installing the boiler could disappear within a few years of expensive utility bills.
